I was extremely bored in these past holidays so I decided to review one of the most boring call of duty's, Black Ops. I won't be talking a whole lot of details about this game and the storyline, it will mostly be about my opinions about this game.
So, Call of Duty: Black Ops is part of the Call of Duty series released in 2010, by the Treyarch studio. This game is kind of a sequel to the previous Call of Duty that Treyarch made which was Call of Duty: World at War.
Single player: The campaign was quite memorable, it had memorable quotes, characters, and scenes which Viktor Reznov is my all time favorite character (we all can't disagree right?). The storyline and scenes of this game is taken from various movies such as Saving Private Ryan, Hamburger Hill, Rambo, We are soldiers and many more. The campaign in my opinion is quite entertaining although it could be too long and boring to some people.
Multiplayer: The game is pretty balanced compared to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (the previous Call of Duty released in 2009). Stopping Power is removed from this game which makes the gameplay and gunfights slower. This makes people camp more and creates frustration to some people. The weapons have more recoil and are harder to use.
Audio: The OST is made by Sean Murray, the same person that made OST for Call of Duty World at War. The soundtrack isn't that great in my opinion and Modern Warfare 2's OST is far more superior.
Problems: This game might seem successful and fun to play. Yes, the game is successful but theres a large amount of players who are unhappy with the game and went back to play previous Call of Duty's and other games. There are many reasons for that. The host selection isn't that great, leading to lag which nobody likes. Some weapons stand out more than others (overpowered) such as the AK-74u, the Famas, AUG, the G11. Notice that most of these are assault rifles and one sub machine gun. The assault rifles are overpowered in this game. Compared to Modern Warfare 2, most of the weapons in that game is usable and pretty good in a way even thought weapons like the UMP and SCAR are overpowered. Some of the perks in Black Ops are very useless or annoying such as Second Chance. Most people just use Sleight of Hand, Scavenger, Ghost and Ninja most of the time and nothing else. We see a more variety of people using perks in previous Call of Duty's.
My personal opinion: As I can see now, a lot of people quit playing this game already, comparing to Modern Warfare 2 last year. In February 2009, everyone (well most of the people) are still playing Mw2. I think that Black Ops can be enjoyable as well as I still play Black Ops. I think that none of these Call of Duty's have beat Call of Duty 4 or Call of Duty 2 yet. Those are the best so far.
Rating: 9/10
