Well, its my first review on a game. I have schedule for more, so dont expect too much from me on this one.
Overview: Minecraft Alpha is a creative-survival game by Markus Persson (aka. Notch), manager of Mojang Specifications. The game became an unexpected hit, despite the graphics and music. The game was a hit from its addiction from the audience from its creativity and a certain uniqueness.
Plot: The game has no certain story. Its just you, and a world where you can do anything. However, at night, creatures of the dark may come and ruin your fun. It was unique in a part where you can do anything, where missions do not exist because you make them yourself.
Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty simple. The controls aren't hard, even though its not all obvious. Its hard to guess that "q" is the drop button, though most of the controls can be deduced. However, there is not instructions of crafting in-game, and neither the crafting recipes are known unless created by accident or guessing, or finding it in a website.
Visuals: Anyone can admit, the graphics is $#!+. Its pixelated, blocky, and looks like outdated technology mixed with the technology now. Its a kind of visual no gamers would like if they saw it the first time. However, the blocks seem to serve very useful for the players and easier to discern the amount of blocks received.
Audio: The music sounds cheap. The records are hard to find, and when it comes at random, it seems like it sounds fresh from the piano. Most audiences enjoy orchestrated music or any other appropriate ones. However, the sound effects proved both essential and adequate. The sound of materials when dug into reveal what equipment would suit, sounds of creatures, and other sounds. The game itself can still stand without music, and instead, the music for some reason is a negative side, though the sound effects boosted way over it.
Reception: The reception from the audience is pretty good. It mostly comes from addiction, and the admiration of other players. Many people have uploaded images and videos of their work, roller coasters, castles and even whole cities. The its more possible to do this on the classic, some people go hardcore on the survival mode. Mostly, the people who started playing may berate the game for its awful graphics. Then they start seeing pictures and videos and try to achieve them. Soon, it becomes an addiction, trying to do something unique that the public can see. Because of this, the game was successful.
Conclusion: The game is a game where you can't just judge it by its cover. It requires you to play it, so the advertisement mostly comes from the players. There is no story but your own. The controls are simple but crafting is hard to deduce. The visuals are awful but helpful. The music is awful but the Sound FX are much better. The first few minute reception of the game is completely heartbreaking but the reception after that is like being redeemed. Its an adequate early test that has high expectations and all the negative is almost ignored.
Final Judgment:8/10
